MICHELLE CINI - PROFESSOR
Michelle Cini is Reader in European Politics in the Department of Politics, University of Bristol. Her research interests include the politics of public administration in the EU, with a particular focus on the European Commission. She has published widely on the European Commission and has a particular interest in organisational cultures and on administrative reform. She is currently completing a project funded by the Nuffield Foundation on the ethical dimension of reform within the European Commission. This project examines the extent to which the European Commission has been able to address concerns about the ethical standards of its officials and Commissioners since the later 1990s. She plans to extend this study of administrative ethics in the future within a project that will examine the regulation of lobbying in the EU, also from the perspective of ethical governance. Michelle also has an interest in regulatory politics in the EU. She has been involved in an ESRC funded project on European environmental governance, but her main focus is that of European competition and state aid policy. A second edition of her co-authored book (with Lee McGowan) on European Competition Policy will be published in the second half of 2008. Finally, and more recently, she had has published a number of articles on Maltese politics.
Michelle also edits a major text book on the European Union for Oxford University Press.
